Maximum slope that can be overcome
The geometry of the lower part of the crane makes it possible to overcome ramps with gradients of up to 25%.
The sizing of the traction of the machine (motor assembly - reduction gear - front wheel) is such as to allow the uphill overcoming of this ramp with a load up to 20% of the maximum load, while the braking system, both for service and parking, it is such as to ensure braking under the same conditions.
These performances are guaranteed if the inclined surface has adequate friction conditions, in this case asphalt, concrete or dry steel. In the presence of wet surfaces or surfaces made slippery, for example by the presence of oil, it is necessary to take the appropriate measures.
Never switch off the machine on inclined surfaces. Parking must only be performed on horizontal surfaces.
Hitching and towing points
The crane is equipped with 4 holes ø45 (2 front and 2 rear) that can be used to fix the crane, for example during transport on a truck, through suitable equipment such as hooks or shackles. Alternatively, it is possible to use M36 eyebolts on the 4 threaded bushings oriented horizontally indicated in the figure.
On specific request, it is possible to change the position of the aforementioned coupling points and / or to provide new and / or different types.
Attention: the choice of ropes, chains, shackles, eyebolts. etc. adequate for the purpose of effectively securing the crane is the responsibility of the employee, who therefore must be provided with good preparation and experience
Lifting the crane
The crane is equipped with 4 vertically oriented M36 bushings, 2 on the front part of the base and 2 on the back of the arm, which can be used to lift the crane, for example during the loading / unloading phase on trucks in absence or the impossibility of using a ramp.
When selecting suitable chains, bands and lifting tools, take into account the machine weights and the weight distribution on the lifting points:

LOAD LIMITING DEVICE
The GALIZIA self-propelled crane is equipped with a control and load limitation system that acoustically and visually signals the eventual achievement of the maximum load position in that configuration and inhibits dangerous movements of the arm forcing you to return with the extension cords in the safety zone of the diagram.
All this is achieved through a system composed of :
• Electronic control unit, pressure transducers mounted on the lifting cylinder and angle and extension transducers mounted on the boom.
• The operator panel allows you to read the weight, the max load at that point, distance from the wheel axis, extension, the angle of the position with respect to the horizontal of the boom, etc.
NOTES ABOUT THE UTILIZATION OF THE LOAD LIMITING DEVICE
The load-limiting device warns when the load maximum attainable position is reached. It starts up acoustic or visual signals, while at the same time stopping all boom movements.
To exit from the BLOCK condition the boom must come back to the safe position. Before starting any boom movement it is compulsory:
§ To be sure that crane operators have received, read, understood and learnt every part of this user’s handbook, with particular reference to those parts concerning this device
• To be sure that the key selector excluding the load limiting device is positioned on the “included” position and the key is out of the lock and in the company person in charge’s hands
• To be sure that the unstable pull-out key selector for unblocking the load limiting device is positioned on the “included” position, and the key is out of the lock and in the company person in charge’s hands
• Select the right operational mode
• Check the integrity and the perfect functionality of the load limiting device system right at the beginning of each working shift
This device is not meant to substitute an experienced operator’s opinion and the use of the right operational procedures.
Being an electronic device, this system may be subject to failures or faults, therefore operator must be able, on his experience basis , to ascertain if data and signals supplied by the system are correct and consistent, and its components are in perfect working order.
CRANE DEVICES AND EQUIPMENTS
KEY SELECTOR + BUTTON FOR LOAD LIMITING DEVICE EXCLUSION
In machines equipped with this system, the selector, positioned on the right side of the crane accessible by opening the bonnet (electrical system area), has the function of temporarily excluding the load limiter (maximum 20 minutes).
The override system resets itself automatically (by returning the included limiter):

OPERATING MODE SELECTION page
When the system is switched on, the Select Operating Modes page appears, which allows you to select the operating mode to be used.
The page contains the following function keys:
1) Frets that allow the lengthening and narrowing of the bridge (IF PRESENT);;
2) Navigation page access key;
3) Keys that allow scrolling through the list of operating modes on the machine;
4) Key that allows you to save the operating mode currently displayed and access the Job page.
The following information is displayed on the page:
a) Indication of the current date and time;
b) Indication of the extent of boom extension, expressed in meters to two decimal places;
c) Indication of the arm angle measurement, expressed in degrees to one decimal place;
d) Indication of the arm radius measurement, expressed in meters to two decimal places;
e) Indication of the arm height measurement, expressed in meters to two decimal places;
f) Wheels straight warning light. It is not displayed when the wheels are turned;

h) When the operating mode is saved by pressing key 4, the green confirmation tick appears;
i) Tool for indicating the steering angle of the wheels;
j) Warning lights: low brake fluid level, parking brake engaged, dead man, remote control connected;

n) Graphic and numerical indication of the battery level;

LANGUAGE SELECTION page
This page is accessed from the Navigation page.
The page contains the following function keys:
1) Button for selecting the Italian language;
2) English language selection key.
When one of the keys is pressed, the panel automatically returns to the Navigation page.
The selected language is saved inside the panel during shutdown. To ensure that this operation is carried out correctly, it is necessary to wait about 30 seconds between the moment in which the desired language is selected and the panel being switched off.
DATE / TIME ADJUSTMENT page
This page is accessed from the Navigation page.
The page contains the following function keys :
1) Highlighter key that allows you to select the parameter to be modified: day, month, year. The selected parameter is highlighted in blue;
2) Highlighter key that allows you to select the parameter to be modified: hour, minute. The selected parameter is highlighted in blue;
3) Keys that allow adjustment of the currently highlighted value;
4) Button that allows saving the set date and time values. When the save is complete, the highlight boxes disappear. This operation takes about 2 seconds. At the end of the operation it is possible to go back to the Navigation page and appreciate the changes made;
5) Navigation page access key.
The page displays the following information:
a) Date currently set;
b) Time currently set.

Flashlight is located on the crane, so to be clearly visible even from afar.
REVERSE ACOUSTIC SIGNALER
The crane is equipped with a reverse acoustic signaler, activated when going into reverse. The reverse acoustic signaler is located at the back of the crane.

For the use of the battery charger, reference must be made to the manufacturer’s handbook.
BATTERY CHARGER CONNECTION
Release the connection plug between battery and engine, located on the left side of the crane, accessible opening the hood.

USE OF ON BOARD BATTERY CHARGERS
(follow the rules stated in the use and maintenance handbook provided by the manufacturer)
1 - Switch off the crane
2 - Push the emergency button to switch off power
3 - Open battery covers
4 - Open the bonnet
5 – Remove crane power plug and insert battery charger plug.
Connect as well the 380V power line.
6 - Turn on the battery chargers located at seat sides in the cab.
7 – In emergency case (low power line current availability) there can be turned on only 1 battery charger.
8 – Check the correct charge starting : red light and fans working mean charging.
When finished the green light is on.

The battery charger has to be connected on a 400V 16Amps line. The little display shows both current and voltage charging values.
BATTERIES FOR ELECTRIC TRACTION
COUNTERWEIGHTS
The GF180 is equipped with removable solid steel counterweights consisting of a base of approximately 3T, a pair of upper counterweights of 1.5T each + 2 additional total counterweights 525 kg. The illustration shows the assembly (without the two 525 kg per pair - see photo).
An additional block of about 200 kg MUST be mounted only when the machine does not have a winch (due to interference with the arm raised). The weight of the winch and the block coincide, so in any case the capacity of the crane does not change.
The counterweights are easily (un) mountable thanks to the holes for eyebolts practiced consistently with their center of gravity and to the invitation seats. The counterweights as a whole can also be handled as a single piece, without separating them.
Attention: IT IS FORBIDDEN TO LIFT WITH THE CRANE WITHOUT THE CORRECT INSTALLATION OF ALL THE COUNTERWEIGHTS INDICATED IN THE PHOTO AND DRAWING ON THIS PAGE.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USE OF THE CRANE GF180
BASIC MANEUVERING INSTRUCTIONS
1. The handling and use of the crane must only be carried out by authorized personnel equipped with suitable clothing.
2. Before starting the machine, check the tire pressure (for cranes equipped with tires) and the good condition of the cover (both for tires and super-elastic tires).
3. Before the start of each work cycle, check the efficiency of the safety devices including those of the lifting accessories: brakes, safe hook limit switch, load limiter, the integrity of the flexible hoses and the hydraulic system in general, etc.
4. Work on an almost horizontal plane of proven consistency.
5. When the load is lifted, the movement must only be carried out on level ground, absolutely without shocks, at reduced speed and keeping the load at a maximum height of approximately 50 cm.
6. The maximum travel speed with hanging load or with extensions not completely retracted must be 1 Km/h. Even without load, pay the maximum attention when steering, and reduce speed.
7. Always report crane movements with suspended load.
8. Always use the lubricants prescribed by Galizia, or the corresponding ones, according to the tables of other houses.
9. Check the wheel nuts tightening every 20 working hours.
10. Never make oblique pulls and in any case avoid swinging the load.
11. Never lift a load that overflows the maximum crane range indicated in the load table, or that is badly harnessed.
12. Do not use the crane for lifting people
13. Never leave the crane with a suspended load.
14. Do not carry out towing or pushing with the arm
15. Make sure that the work area and the control stations are sufficiently illuminated for safe operation and for the readability of the switching and flow panels.
16. Keep the controls clean of grease and oil.
For cranes with winch:
17. At least once every 3 months carefully check the condition of the ropes and note in the booklet.
